Planning for 2nd TTDI Open Chess Competition 2023, BEGINS

 

( 1st Meeting between MPPWP Sub-Zone 2 Parliament Segambut, KLCA and  Event Organiser-7M Sports Global.
Location: Komo Cafe, TTDI - 4pm, Sunday 29th October 2023)

Building on the success of the inaugural 1st TTDI Open Chess Competition 2023 held in October 2023 and to cater for the  Segambut chess community specifically and Kuala Lumpur chess afficionados, a 2nd TTDI Open Chess Competition 2023 is being planned for end of 2023.

Representatives from Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk Wilayah Persekutuan (MPPWP) Sub-Zon 2 Parliament Segambut - En.Farhan(Chairman MPPWP) and Ms. Margaret Lee(Secretary MPPWP), IO/NA Amirul HM (Hon.Secretary, Kuala Lumpur Chess Association (KLCA) and Pn.Fariza from Event Organiser 7M Sports Global(7MSG) met-up at the Komo Cafe, TTDI-KL at 4pm on Sunday,
29th October 2023 to brainstorm and discuss on how to make the event happen, logistics considerations and improvements that needs to be done.

After discussions, it was decided that the 2nd TTDI Open 2023 will be held on
Sunday, 17th December 2023 at the air-conditioned TTDI Community Hall to coincide with the start of the December school holidays. Tentatively, there will be 2 competitions:-
(1) U-12 Unrated event which we hope qualifies for PAJSK considerations; and,
(2) U-20 FIDE-rated competition to attract the more discerning players.

MPPWP will appoint 7M Sports Global as Event Organiser for 2nd TTDI U20 Open 2023.

The Prize-Giving ceremony was held at the nearby TTDI Community Hall, KL.
Chairman of Majlis Perwakilan Penduduk Wilayah Persekutuan (MPPWP) Sub Zone 2 - Parlimen Segambut, En. Farhan bin Abdul Rahman gave away the prizes on behalf of the Co-organisers MPPWP and Pejabat Belia dan Sukan Kepong/Segambut, Jabatan Belia dan Sukan, KL.

In his speech, En. Farhan thanked all players and parents as well as stakeholders like the TTDI Library (Pustaka KL @TTDI) and Kuala Lumpur Chess Association(KLCA) for supporting the inaugural event and making it a success. He also mentioned that the Minister of Youth and Sports  YB Hannah Yeoh who visited the event prior to the start of Round 4 was visibly pleased with the turnout and the venue. As such, the organisers are considering to organise a 2nd TTDI Chess Competition in the near future.
